Accommodation

There is no official accommodation venue for the event. Catania offers different options of accommodation (Hotel, B&B).
The venue of the workshop is located in the upper part of the city, inside the Cittadella Universitaria, at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMI).

Below you’ll find a selection of accommodation options both in the historic city center and in the upper area near the Department.

Historic City Center

This area offers many hotels and is well connected to the Department by public transportation.

Transportation

Getting to the Department (DMI) from the City Center

The Department is located inside the Cittadella Universitaria, in the upper part of Catania.

By bus (AMT Catania):

  • BRT1 – Rapid Bus Line connecting the city center to the Cittadella
  • 442 – Connects several central and northern neighborhoods
  • 901 – Starts from Piazza Repubblica, passes through Via Etnea (including Piazza Stesicoro), then follows a route similar to the BRT1 and stops at the INFN entrance (same Cittadella access point as BRT1)
  • 556 – Passes by the train station and Piazza Stesicoro, then stops near the Engineering entrance from Viale Andrea Doria

Bus tickets cost €1.40 and can be purchased at any tabacchi (tobacconist).

By metro + BRT1 (summer service update):

  • Take the metro and get off at Milo station
  • During the summer, the Metro Shuttle is replaced by BRT1, which stops at Milo before continuing to the Cittadella (direct stop in front of the Department)

Getting to the City Center from the Department (DMI)

  • Take the metro at Milo station (15 minutes on foot) and get off at Stesicoro (City Center)
  • Or go to Via Etnea 595 (13 minutes on foot) and take any bus (BRT1, 442, 556, 744, 901, 929...) that runs to Piazza Stesicoro

Getting from the Airport to the City Center (and vice versa)

  • Alibus shuttle – €4 ticket (can be purchased on board), connects the airport with the city center
  • By taxi: Convenient and flexible option from any part of the city
  • On foot: Possible from some areas, but note the uphill route and summer heat
